What's the difference between STP and OFF?

STP 3D Model is stp file extension for step exchange format. OFF 3D Mesh is object file format — simple polygon mesh format. Key difference: STP 3D Model excels at identical to STEP — same ISO standard for CAD exchange, while OFF 3D Mesh offers extremely simple format for basic 3D mesh data.

How does the STP to OFF conversion work technically?

What happens to my files after conversion?
